BREAKING THE MOULD
What an honour it is to once again join all of you at the Women in Leadership Summit this November. It was such a brilliant event last year – I loved hearing from so many accomplished and inspiring leaders, and I truly enjoyed meeting so many of you. I’m excited to see what this year has in store for all of us.

The concept of leadership really is an interesting one because, even though we all have such different paths, styles and influences that have shaped us, there is still this set idea or notion of how a leader should look or behave. This is even more complex for women, facing labels like "bossy" instead of "strong".

This is the “mould” that we need to reimagine, reshape, or even break, if we are to truly encourage diversity in leadership.

We need to create space to celebrate challenging leaders and bold voices who are there to shake up the status quo and change the systems if we are to truly see more women in positions of leadership.

UN Women Australia are once again proud to have the opportunity to partner with the Women in Leadership Summit and we are very thankful that once again 10 per cent of all ticket sales will be going towards UN Women programs and initiatives around the world – working to advance gender equality for women and girls everywhere.

This is wonderful opportunity to come together and explore some of the complex issues that are facing women in leadership – I hope you will you join me there.
